My Morning Jacket

Tonight I'm going to see My Morning Jacket in concert! How fun! Here's a video of them performing Dancefloors in Milwaukee.

A sweet little story.

So yesterday was a crazy day. Little Lenny was feeling bad and I had to take him to the vet. But don't worry, he is getting better! (Can you believe he was turning down parsley?) So I finally get home after work and the vet and many errands ~ including a very awkward and strange encounter with the checkout girl at the grocery store ... really do you have to ask me a million questions about my personal life and examine everything I'm buying? oh woww I've never seen this shampoo before. AH! just scan it! ok, I digress. ~ I was finally settled into the living room watching 30Rock and making some super cute DIY decor when I heard a knock on the door. I said 'Who is it?' and I heard a whistle.
No way! It was John! Standing outside my door with these beautiful miniature roses. He was supposed to come home today but he made it back a day early and totally surprised me ~ sneaky guy! How sweet!
Happy Friday!

can you imagine...

... your office looking like this? I wish I could understand what she is saying but I'm sure she's amazed! I wonder how many post-its it took?
I spotted this on MthruF.

gelato wednesday

Oh yum! The new gelato place near my office has finally opened and so we got some at lunch! This is "bounty" flavored - hazelnut, coconut, and chocolate pieces. Delich!

Tuesday inspiration: garlands

Today I am totally inspired by these fun garlands I spotted on Green Wedding Shoes. They are so colorful and cheery!

flowers for moms

Does your mom or grandmother love to work in her garden and plant flowers? My grandmother had a green thumb, for sure! And my mom is always pointing out new blooms on her flowers. Mother's day is coming up soon, and I just found out about American Meadows. They sell bulbs and seeds that you could get for mom to use in her yard. B-e-a-utiful.

it was a busy weekend!

Monday, monday ...
I had a super busy weekend! It was packed full of go-karts and laser tag, a visit to the Raleigh Diner (hello delicious fried chicken), saying goodbye to a dear friend of mine who is headed to Navy boot camp today!, a beach music festival, getting caught in April rain showers, lots of mexican food, a bridal photo shoot (I tagged along as the maid of honor), and maybe even some margaritas ;)
Can you believe that I did all of this and I barely took any pictures to share with you? Here's one of us at the festival. There were so many people there (lots of great people watching)! How was your weekend?

powdered sugar = delightful

I've been doing a lot of cooking lately and last night after dinner, I baked the most delicious dessert! I found this recipe for buttery almond cookies (basically, wedding cookies) on allrecipes.com and the only change I made was a little more powdered sugar in the batter - they needed some extra sweetness :)

you don't have to have a crown to be the king.

If you have not seen the finale of Project Runway yet ... SPOILER ALERT!
the Project Runway finale last night was great! I loved the colors in Emilio's line. It totally rocked! and I want to own that teal coat and the one strap dress. Seth Aaron did a good job too, funky but cool. Congratulations to Seth Aaron! Mila wasn't my favorite. Too much black and white. Although I did like the outfit with the purple tights. I like when people can rock cool tights. (Was it just me, or did Seth Aaron's hair look ear muffs? no offense, buddy. you're still a winner!) Overall, I thought the finale was full of talent and impressive pieces! What did you think about the show?

Also, hope you had a happy Earth Day yesterday!

bright headbands

Can't you just see yourself prancing through the green grass in one of these brightly colored headbands from much love illy? PGHC is currently giving away the pretty yellow one! (and you know how much I love yellow!)

dinner time

Last night's dinner was inspired by a post that I recently saw on the web, but I can't for the life of me find it now. When I run across it again, I will give credit where it is due!
In the meantime, I will say that it was delicious and simple to make. (and the best part? I have leftovers for lunch today!)
All you need:
pizza dough
extra virgin olive oil
grape tomatoes
fresh basil
mozzarella
and I spiced it with: oregano, salt, and freshly ground pepper

That's it! Yum-o

flash mobs

Can I just tell you that I am so completely in love with flash mobs and am so jealous that I have not participated in one or witnessed one yet. You just wait, bloggy friends ... one day I will be in the biggest and best flash mob of all :) In the meantime, you have to love this one set to Glee music that was in Seattle!

Lingerie Party Invites

So, I'm in a wedding this summer and I am throwing the lingerie party. OO LA LA! I have chosen a very cute, yet sexy color theme of pink and black, and of course, I already have a long list of DIY decor (and foods) for the day! One of the things I wanted to make myself was the invitations. I picked out some super cute pink damask paper and black card stock. I also got hot pink ribbon to decorate the top of the invite and white card stock on which to print the information. At the top of the invite it reads Something frilly, Something sweet, Something to knock Drew (last name) off his feet! And then I glued an adorable little pink lingerie set that I printed on card stock as well to the bottom corner of the invite for an added extra. I think everyone who received one, loved it. I've seen them on a few friends' fridges. Do you like?

ps - more about the wedding I'm in this summer here and here.

it was a {rocking chairs by the beach} weekend

Good morning! It's Monday once again ...
I'm starting off the week after a relaxing and fun weekend of girlie time in the sand and sun. We spent some time sitting in these colorful rocking chairs (I just loved them!), laying on a towel in the sand, trying on beautiful dresses, eating salt water taffy, and shagging on Ocean Drive. Ok, we didn't shag dance as much as we had planned, but we still had fun! How was your weekend? Are you ready for a new week? I've got a lot of projects - mostly crafty, since I'm planning some events and showers - on my list!

Dancin' on the Boulevard

Happy Friday! I'm counting down the hours until I can hop in the car, roll the windows down and drive. This weekend I'm headed to the beach to listen to beach music and dance the night away. Do you know how to do the carolina shag? It is a super fun, and fairly simple, dance that goes along with awesome beach music like Chairmen of the Board. Whatever you are up to this weekend, I hope you find an excuse to turn the music up and dance around!

Cinderella

Hello lovelies! What are you up to tonight? I have been so busy today but I am getting excited because tonight I am going to see Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella!
This movie was an all-time favorite during my childhood. I would sit in my little teeny red rocking chair at my grandmother's house and watch this movie over and over. And tonight I am going to see it live on stage ~ how fun!
All of the songs are already stuck in my head ....
... Impossible things are happening everyday!

the Troasters

Remember when I told you about the Jon Troast concert? Well, he posted our little group's picture on his website - here we are! He likes to call his fans "troasters" which is why there is a piece of toast pictured to the right of my head.

how wonderful!

Today, I am completely honored to be featured on Daniella's blog Dress, Design & Decor. While she is out of town, Daniella has guest writers blogging about their vacations. I wrote a bit about my trip to Peru a few summers ago. Peru is an amazing place, rich in culture and tradition and I am so happy that I had a chance to visit there. Here are some pictures of my trip for you to see. The post is also accompanied by some beautiful photos that Daniella picked out. I hope you will check it out and enjoy!
