have a great weekend!

This week has been super busy (and is still going!) so this weekend will be the perfect time to relax! We even have a little cookout planned. I hope you have a great weekend too!
photo from Design*Sponge ~ check out their post about sun tea ... yum! I might have to try that this weekend too ;)

a little (not so funny) letter

Dear Popsicle,
I hate to break it to you but your jokes aren't very funny.
Love, Nicole

pretty pink and green wedding

Just wanted to share a few images from Jennifer and Brandon's wedding ~ it was beautiful! The flowers and the centerpieces were gorgeous and the cake was so yummy!

a big beach chair

The other weekend, at the beach, there was this huge beach chair and I just couldn't wait to sit in it! Isn't it so fun?

green and sunny

Sometimes I dream of having a big green backyard where I could lay out a quilt and enjoy a picnic. Isn't this home beautiful?

pretty picture monday

For some reason, I am always so busy on Mondays! How was your weekend friends? Mine was super fun and full of karaoke, 80's music, a baseball game and a little bit of shopping :)
Aren't these wedding decorations so fun?

one more hook

I just had to share this hook/shelf/flower holder (!) combination from Old New Again on etsy. So cute with the ampersand on top :) This store has some other really cute things too - like state shaped hooks ... go NC!

Happy Weekend! I hope it's full of love and popsicles :)

yellow interior

After seeing this insanely awesome picture on You Are My Fave, I want to knit myself a yellow blanket for my bed. Maybe if I start now, it will be done by winter.

wall of hooks

Lindsay and I want to hang super fun hooks on the wall as you enter our apartment, so I've been searching the internet for some of the best.

wall inspiration

I love these colorful little butterflies from Beach Cottage Studio on etsy. I think they would look really neat on the narrow archway in my living room. What would you do with them?

Love will save the day

This sweet message adorns the posters in the little shop "Field Trip" on etsy.

This yellow one is my favorite (I can't stop loving yellow!)
and this one would be perfect for my friend Jessica who decorates will all red, black and white.
Field Trip has other designs too. And guess what? You can win one today by entering this contest at 6th Street Design School. Good luck!

sights from my weekend

Hello Wednesday. I like you. But I liked my weekend more. Love, Nicole

Today, I'm headed out early to spend the weekend in Charleston, SC for my friend Jennifer's wedding. Here's to soaking up the sun and sticking your toes in the sand.

Happy weekend!

Seriously, how cool is this top?
First spotted on The Southern Hostess. Her favorite is the flamingo!

Let's start the morning off right with this absolutely awesome wedding photo by Shea Roggio Photography. Don't you think it's just the right amount of playful and beautiful?

pink and green

My friend Jennifer is getting married this weekend and Tori is in the wedding. She is wearing a Lula Kate bridesmaid dress in black with a green sash and carrying pink flowers. So for the occasion, I made her this ring. She picked out the beads and I put it together.
Want to see another pink and green something that is absolutely beautiful? Check out this beach house ~ it's dreamy!

hello, FreshBerry

I have something to tell you. Something very important about my life.
I purchased my first Groupon
(don't know what Groupon is? Here are the details)
It's true. and it was delightful.  I now know about this city's newest FroYo place ~ FreshBerry. (remember Pink Berry vs Goodberrys? well add this one to the list.)
Tori and I split a medium (which was plenty) and you get three toppings so we got chocolate ~ of course ~ with strawberries, coconut, and almonds. Yum-o!
They have fun colored spoons there, too. Just thought you should know.

photo tour: our trip to Oz

On Saturday we traveled to Oz!
We started off on the yellow brick road ...
And we saw some familiar faces.
We finally made it to the Emerald City, avoided the poppies and apple throwing trees and ate a delicious picnic.
(Lindsay and I had very colorful outfits!)
Then, the NC Symphony began to play ...

And it was lovely.
I must say ... Oz is a fun place to go :)

this bike is sweet

Check out this sweet bike! Basically the coolest idea ever.

weekend picnic plans

Hiya! what are you up to this weekend? With all the recent posts about picnics floating around the blogosphere,  I can't wait to incorporate one into my weekend plans! We have tickets to a local ampitheatre. They are showing the movie Wizard of Oz while the North Carolina Symphony plays the accompanying sound track. Sounds like a beautiful idea right? I'll be listening while feasting on wine and cheese and pasta salad and homemade salsa
I hope your weekend is delightful and relaxing! As it should be ... although this week was only 4 days - it was busy!

are you a chicken ... or a cow?

Guess what? If you go to Chick-Fil-A tomorrow dressed like a cow, you eat for free :) How fun is that? Here are the details.

loving this room

Don't you love this room? I don't know if there's just one thing about it that I like, but I really dig it. It's got to have something to do with the awesome pillow, the bright and bold wall color, the pretty flowers, the cute little bird on the teapot, and the yummy looking food.

Summertime Cookin' and Salsa recipe

Man, I tell ya - if there is one thing we know how to do well in North Carolina in the summer (or anytime honestly), it's cooking. Lately we've been cooking a lot on the grill and enjoying the summer sun. Yum-o!
Carolina style with slaw and chili. (and I love crunchy lettuce on mine!)
4th of July Kabobs (sausage, zucchini, squash and onions) served with the best homemade salsa that is so simple to make! I'll give you the recipe below.
What do you like to cook on the grill? Have you been cooking with a lot of summertime veggies lately? Here's a tasty recipe for you :)

Nicole's delicious and simple Homemade Salsa
Rotel - 2 cans
Black Beans
Yellow Corn (or fiesta corn)
Diced Red Onion
Garlic (or garlic powder)
Cilantro
Lime Juice
Chili Powder
>> Drain the beans and corn (and tomatoes depending on how saucy you want it). Mix it all together. Add enough lime juice and chili powder to taste. Sometimes I even add hot mexican chili powder to give it an extra kick. This is delicious with chips, but also as a side for kabobs or stir fry. Enjoy!
