restaurant: Bone Garden

I was gone for a couple days (I've been at home sick... :( ) but now I'm back and feeling better!
Recently, we ate dinner at a fun little Mexican restaurant called Bone Garden. The restaurant was pretty small but the decorations were super cool so I took a few pictures to share! It was decorated as if it were a celebration of Dia de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead), a celebration in Mexico where family and friends gather together, celebrate and pray for family members who have passed away. All of the skulls that are used in the decor are called "La Calavera Catrina" which means "the elegant skull" and have become a popular image used in the celebration of Dia de Los Muertos. Since I studied Spanish in college and learned about this holiday, it was cool to walk into the restaurant and recognize the inspiration for the decor. They even talked about the holiday on their menu... speaking of the menu, the food was good too - the salsa and queso was delicious and I enjoyed a brisket burrito (not too big!) and John had tacos. Their menu is a la carte so you can try multiple things (like 1 taco, 1 empanada and churros... next time we're getting churros ;) )
And outside there were lights and Mexican party banners (called papel picado) hung over the dining tables. There was something about the decor that made this restaurant feel more authentic to me. Plus the food was tasty! You can't go wrong with good salsa and burritos :)
UPDATE: some foods on their menu are a little too... authentic... for my taste - I will be avoiding the goat soup, esquite (corn with mayo and chili powder), and beef tongue tacos.
