biking across the Golden Gate Bridge

One of our favorite parts of the trip was the bike ride we took from Pier 39, over the Golden Gate Bridge and into the beautiful town of Sausalito.
The weather was perfect! And there were dog walkers out with big groups of dogs everywhere enjoying the sun.
The mountains right beside the water are just gorgeous. We just couldn't stop staring at the scenery.
The bridge had biking and pedestrian lanes and was much higher than we thought it would be! It was almost scary to look over the edge.
Once we were over the bridge, we coasted down the hill into the lovely town of Sausalito and ate lunch at Cafe Tutti. Then we put our bikes on the ferry and rode back over to Pier 1 in San Francisco. The views from the ferry were awesome too... and we saw an America's Cup boat practicing in the bay.
It sure was windy on the ferry. Overall the biking was a ton of fun. If you ever go to San Fran you should definitely rent bikes for the afternoon, it's a blast! And the perfect way to see so much of this pretty city by the bay :)

ps - Happy Leap Day!

walking around San Francisco!

We're back! And wow, what a trip! We went biking and hiking and walking and kayaking. It was beautiful. And guys, you know how many pictures I like to take... I think I took almost 1,000 photos on this trip! I know you're not that surprised, but seriously, that's a lot of pictures! And you know I'm going to share all of the best ones with you :) It was just so much fun to see Matt and travel around some of, what have to be, the most beautiful parts of California. The flight was a little bumpy, but the views and the amazing weather were just the best!
We started off our trip walking around San Francisco. We checked out Union Square (including the 4 story Nike store which is where that escalator below is) and Pier 39. The roads are so hilly there. I was so surprised at how steep they were! A taxi ride down the hills was really like a roller coaster ride, haha.
We found a store just for left handed people. Yay John!
Our first view of the Golden Gate Bridge. Woohoo! A little later we would bike over the bridge, but I'll have to share pictures from that ride in another post because there are too many good ones!
Ok, this fluffy dog right here was just the cutest little dog ever, ever.  It rode in the basket of its owner's bike and was shaved to look like a lion. OMG it was precious. John and I wanted to take it home. Just make a mental note, our future doggy will look like this and will be named Melvin. And he will ride around with me on my bike and we will pet him constantly because he is so fluffy and cute.
Isn't San Francisco so pretty? I have SO many more pictures to share. It's ridiculous how many I took really, but there was so much to see! I think I'll share pics from our bike riding adventure next. Get excited.

our weekend with Bella

This weekend we hung out with Bella and she was just dying to go to Kennesaw Mountain. And you know that's our favorite place so we got in the car and headed to the mountain for an afternoon hike with the pup.
The view was beautiful of course and we got to watch the sun set as we hiked. This is what the sky looked like from Pigeon Hill on our way up.
This was the only time Bella sat down. Mostly she was just tugging and pulling us up or down the mountain. Bella's strong!
This picture was taken from the same spot on Pigeon Hill on our way down. The sky was gorgeous!
How was your weekend?
~
We also went to Sweet Water Brewery.

It was their 15th birthday celebration and they had a super cool cake to celebrate.
 Yes, that is a cake.
 I love their colorful logo!
Also, guess who was there... Santa! I guess when he's not drinking milk he enjoying a Sweet Water brew! haha

gold finches

The other day we were sitting in the living room and saw tons of birds flying back and forth in front of our windows. Bird after bird after bird. Where were they coming from? Where were they going?
Come to find out they were gold finches. And they come here, to this apartment complex, every year to eat the little berries off of the trees and bushes. And once they've eaten all the berries off one tree they move to the next one...
Can you believe how many there are? It was crazy to watch! And wasn't the sky the most beautiful shade of blue that day?

Sublime Donuts

I love donuts. That's all there is to it. So when John told me about a delicious donut place he discovered across from GA Tech we had to go! It's called Sublime Donuts and they sell homemade, fluffy delicious donuts. They're irresistible I tell ya.
We got 4 donuts. A chocolate/vanilla twist, a chocolate on chocolate, a fresh strawberry filled donut and an apple caramel donut. Seriously, just looking at that picture of our donut box is making my mouth water.

I think these signs below say it all...
And the funniest thing of all is that they also sell lots of donut souvenirs including these earrings :)
In case you weren't already hungry, here's that picture of our delicious box of donuts one more time. Ah-mazing.
