recipe: grilled s' mores

Last night we had a summer cookout and pool party! You know it's summer when you're having a pool party on a Wednesday night - love it! We all brought delicious things to eat - corn on the cob, potato salad, pasta salad, baked beans, macaroni and cheese and hot dogs! And for dessert, we grilled s'mores :)

 they were hot! Bill used tongs to get them off the grill!

 delicious! a perfect edition to any cookout :)

diy: 4th of July wreath

I made a festive 4th of July wreath for our front door!

All you do is wrap yarn around a wreath form from the craft store and hot glue the ends as you go. The example I saw on Pinterest used buttons as the stars but I decided to use mini pom pom balls and they look super cute! Happy 4th of July!

we' re on a boat!

 While we were in Sarasota, John surprised me with a sunset boat cruise!! 

Seriously y'all, he's amazing.

 The boat was a lot of fun. About 100 people or so were riding on it and as we headed out of the bay we saw this really pretty dolphin waterfall.

 we're on a boat! yay! and our hair is blowing in the wind :)

 there was a guy on the boat playing his guitar and singing - think Jimmy Buffet

 here we go, heading out into the ocean, under the bridge we had driven over earlier that day!

 we floated past some gorgeous houses! look at this one with 2 porches!

we also met a fun new spotted friend on the boat... he's smiling for the camera :)

one couple asked us if we were on our honeymoon, haha. we must have looked like we were having a lot of fun! :)

 after the sun went down, they turned on these fun party lights :)

 I must say, it was the perfect surprise! and the best way to end our fun day at the beach :)

sneak peek: patriotic project

Just a sneak peek of a fun little project I started last night! Hopefully I'll have it finished by the end of the week!

Sarasota, FL

 John and I got to spend a few days together in Sarasota, FL and boy was it beautiful! 

This is the entrance to the cute little hotel we stayed in.

 I love taking pictures of really cool looking flowers and plants. This one in particular was beautiful I thought. Sarasota was a cute city with a fun main street where we walked to breakfast, lots of boats and gorgeous beaches!

 this is a shot of the water while we were driving over the bridge on the way to the beach. I really like this picture because the clouds are so huge and the skyline is so teeny.

 the paths heading out to the beach from the parking areas were even pretty! and of course we are carrying our floats! we LOVED floating around in the water :)

 

 I refuse to get sun burnt so sometimes I wore my floppy hat. and John rocked his beach hat too - he's so cute!

the water was so calm, there were barely any waves! I didn't even know what to think of being in the ocean without the waves knocking me over. it was awesome :)

you didn't think you were going to see pictures of us at the beach and not see a picture of ice cream did you? I love ice cream. in a waffle cone. it's my favorite. this cone has chocolate almond on the bottom and vanilla caramel brownie on the top. mmmmmm! it was so hot out though that it melted as you ate it. it was a competition to see how fast we could eat the ice cream before it turned into just cream.
